Write Out Loud Woking on Zoom has been renamed … Write Out Loud Northumberland on Zoom. The reason? Organiser Greg Freeman has now been living up north for two years, and he feels it’s time to recognise this fact. This does not mean that regular supporters of Write Out Loud Woking on Zoom are no longer welcome to join in. Quite the reverse! Your support is as invaluable as ever. But Greg is hoping that more poets from the north-east and beyond – as they have done in the past – will find their way here, too, in the future. It’s a great pleasure to welcome north-east poet Marilyn Longstaff as our guest at Write Out Loud Northumberland on Zoom on Wednesday 9 April. Marilyn lives in Darlington and is a member of Vane Women. In 2003, she received a Northern Promise Award from New Writing North and in 2005 gained her MA in Creative Writing from the University of Newcastle.
Her third poetry book, Raiment was selected by New Writing North’s Read Regional in 2012. Her other books are: Puritan Games, Sitting among the Hoppers, Articles of War (2017) and The Museum of Spare Parts (2018). Her latest new collection Being Gemini was published by Smokestack Books in August 2024.
