Colpitts Poetry: Jo Colley and Ian Horn
This event on 14th April 2011 at 10:30 has past.
Poet and prose writer Jo Colley received a Northern Promise Award from New Writing North in 2007 following her pamphlet As If (Vane Women Press 2003) and poems in The Flesh of the Bear: Poetry from North East England and
South West Finland (Ek-Zuban 2004). Her sizzling, sensual collection from Salt, Weeping for the Lovely Phantoms (2007), presents poems which tell the stories of the death of Sharon Tate, rural heroes, ill-fated blondes and trans-formations, and of love and its near relatives, each one a cinematic journey.
Ian Horn was born in County Durham, where he still lives. He has performed his work at Glastonbury and on BBC and Danish TV as well as at numerous European literary festivals. In 2000 he won a Northern Promise Award from
New Writing North and in 2007 published his acclaimed Mudfog collection, The Singing Ducks of Amiens. He was the editor of Verses United, an anthology of football poetry which has inspired projects in many schools and at
football festivals in the UK and abroad.
