Finding a place where you truly belong

While growing up I have always felt like I don't belong;the school I went to,even the people who are the closest to me.It all felt like I am in the wrong place; like I'm not meant to be there; like I was dancing to the wrong tune. Most of my poems are based on exactly this - the yearning to find myself.
To those of you who feel the same as I do;To those who have never been accepted as normal, but still love and accept themselves for the person that are;To those who have the power to be strong when you are put down and are told that you are no good by a bunch of phoney,soul-sucking bullies,
I ask you to come join me in this discussion and share views and feelings, and maybe help to discover each other through comfort and friendship.

It seems very appropriate that I should find myself reading the introduction to this discussion at
Christmas - a huge time for getting
together to celebrate the coming of
One whose intention was to unite
humanity in love. Love others as
you love yourself.
Going through more ordinary lives
quickly shows us that the words are
fine but the practice much harder.
I have settled for "take as you find". We are basically driven by
the same needs - with a few degrees
of variation - and are essentially
crowd/pack animals - again, with
degrees of variation. And thank
heavens for those various degrees of
variation!!
Be comfortable with yourself when you have good intent towards others
and make room for their doubts and
lack of patience or understanding.
Much can be blamed on insecurity or fear - often taught and handed down.
In days long gone there may have been good reason for this insofar
that ignorance was prevalent and ignorance always breeds fear and animosity. Progress has seen the
human world become referred to as "global" - an intrinsic acceptance
that "we" are all in the same boat
and that wars/conflicts can now be
considered on the wane - compared
with other days when communication
and contact was so much rarer - again leading to the causes of
dispute and disaffection.
Take this down to an individual
level and there is room for optimism
about the overall human condition.
As Man moves around his world and
the inter-dependency becomes ever
more apparent, the differences will
dilute and this will filter down to
the individual with increasing
frequency until it is no longer
thought necessary to remark on "difference" but, rather, to rejoice
in what we all have that unites us.
Until that day, once again let us
remind ourselves to "take as we find" and help each other to "belong".
