An Evening of Curiosities...

Opening with the wonderful Rosie Garland, treasure of Manchester, 'jewel box of a novel' (S.Waters).

Born in London to a runaway teenager, Rosie has always been a cuckoo in the nest. She is an eclectic writer and performer, ranging from singing in cult gothic band The March Violets to twisted alter-ego Rosie Lugosi the Vampire Queen. She has five solo collections of poetry and is winner of the DaDa Award for Performance Artist of the Year and a Poetry Award from the People's Café, New York. Her novel 'The Palace of Curiosities' has just been published by HarperCollins. There will be readings and question and answer time with Rosie.

Joining Rosie will be the finest feminist writers Manchester has to offer - Stirred Poetry will be represented by Anna Percy and Rebecca Audra Smith performing a mixed prose and poetry set.

Anna Percy's poetry collection 'Livid Among the Ghostings' is being published this year by Flapjack Press. She is writer, workshop facilitator and literary events organiser. She gained her MA in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester in 2009 and is co-founder and co-host of Stirred.

Rebecca Audra Smith has a flash fiction piece which will be published on the Mansion House Tube line in November. She is studying for a Masters in creative writing at Manchester Metropolitan. She is part of Stirred Poetry collective and is currently writing a response to Ovid. www.beccaaudra.wordpress.com.

Special Guest:

Nixy West has graduated from Manchester University with an MA in Creative Writing. Nixy is Project Coordinator with Bad Language Mcr, Festival Coordinator at Litfest, and General Editor with The Cadaverine and is always on the look out for new creative projects to be involved with. She spends her time reading, writing, walking and drinking too much coffee.

Open mic slots and mystery guests to be revealed.

'Far from the loud laughter of men, our secret life stirred.' Oppenheim's Cup and Saucer, Carol Ann Duffy.
