"London's premier spoken word and music night" The Southbank Centre

"One of the UK's most important outposts for the future of the spoken word...it's a London treasure." Tom Chatfield, Prospect Magazine

As there'll be no regular Poejazzi in May and then we'll be off on our summer festival tour, we thought we'd treat you to a 5th special guest act instead of our usual 4 artist line up.

Buy early to avoid disappointment! £3 Early Bird tickets are available from Wed March 13 - Fri March 22. Otherwise tickets are £5 online/student/concessions and £7 on the door.

Jono McCleery - Ninja Tunes signee Jono is a legend/musical urban myth: so perfect on record as well as live that it is hard to believe he's real when people talk about him. He makes sensory laden nu folk/soul, merging his sound seamlessly with electronica and accosutic with equally graceful effect. The artist with "the darkness of Nick Drake, the soul of Marvin Gaye and the romantic indulgence of Jeff Buckley" has toured with the likes of Gil Scott Heron, Bonobo, Fink, Little Dragon and Jamie Woon to name a few. He will be perfoming new material from his upcoming album, a chance for hardcore fans and need-to-be-inductees to get a fresh persepctive on one of the greatest, most emotive voices ever. So bring a friend (they'll thank you)

Bagel Project - Our special guest is our latest musical crush and Poejazzi Video of the Week featured artist Bagel Project. Expect lo-fi R&B/avant garde folk with mysterious lyrics and unforgettable melodies. Other than that you can wholly expect the unexpected, this "London artist's work to date is united in an ability to shun all redeemable laws, to work within it's own sphere that is basically untouched by fellow musicians." This is Fake DIY. Bagel Project is on the ascension, catch her while you can.

Cecilia Ann Knapp - An alumni member of The Roundhouse Poetry Collective (2012) Cecila is a member of Londons freshest poetry group Early Doors (also featuring one of our February gig's favourites, Jack Rooke). Cecilia offers modern tales of the human condition with an observational wit that's wise beyond her years and an elegant, soothing delivery style that is entirely unique.

Kareem Parkins Brown - If Jay Electronica was not Jay Electronica we feel like he'd be Kareem. Or vice versa. This up and coming poet manages to combine sensitivity and hard hitting wordplay with a style that feels intellectually challenging and raw all at the same time. Fresh from starring in the Boy Blue Entertainment produced Barbican Theatre show "Unleashed" as "the dream dealer" you need to witness this very special spoken word artist live to understand the deserved hype.

Alex Mills - Alex has featured on tracks with artists such as Wretch 32 and Tinchy Stryder, recently she has broken out on her own and taken a distinctively more alternative direction sound wise with her No Artifical Colours EP. You can expect refresingly honest lyrics and non formulaic R&B pop from this super eclectic singer-songwriter.

Entry: £3 early bird (ends March 22) / £5 online / £7 on the door (concessions/students £5 on the door)

Time: 7:30pm
