The Five Faces of Fulli is the exploration of one man’s psyche, that man is Ushiku Crisafulli. Over the past 4 years many characters or “faces” have emerged from the depths of Ushiku’s mind.

These are collectively known as “The Five Faces of Fulli” – Sir Benjamin, Cowboy Crisafulli, Indigo Angel, Bidaman, and El Poetico. Drawing inspiration from cabaret, country, alternative music, hip hop, poetry, spoken word, performance art, philosophy, superheroes and steampunks The Five Faces of Fulli promises to entertain and enlighten in equal measure.

What people say:

Tsareena Wimbush, singer: “I haven’t seen all “five faces of fulli” so not sure my testimony is as useful as it should be. My fave face is number 6: “bloke I met at bus stop”. Ushiku/Ben/Bidaman/Cowboy etc is a bloke. One I met a while ago. Who since I met him has never failed to amaze me with his compassion, work ethic, and ability with words. This bloke is talented, hardworking and unpredictable. I’m happy to give a testimonial that says this man puts on a show.”

Maggie Turner, VADA LGBT Theatre Company: “I LOVE working with you – you have imagination, energy and are very professional. A pleasure in every way and totally reliable. Looking forward to the book and the show :) ”

Rona Taylor, VADA LGBT Theatre Company: “Intense, engaged, full of creative passion, Ushiku Crisafulli weaves intellect and emotion in equal measure. As Bidaman he is colourful and muscular, grabbing you for a quickstep through his poetic discharge. Enjoy – you will be in firm hands.”

Cathy Bryant, writer and poet: “Always unpredictable, a force of nature who has something new to offer – a spokesperson for the new generation of spoken word artistes.”

Jeffarama, poet: “Aye lad, its fair to say you’ve been about a bit, like myself of course! I think your appeal is your unpredictability (is that a word?) and I dont think I’ve seen you do the same thing more than twice, not many do that. I try to vary it, punk & serious style, now guitar but on the whole its me, to have 5 different names & faces is a credit. Been great to see you at GnV as Indigo, Sir Benjamin when I was MC at Bardolesque & the rest, although I have to say the Cowboy did surprise me at our recent A means to an End gig at OpenMind – keep up the good work, I know how hard it is! all the best Jeffarama!”

Andy N, writer and poet: “’Since I met Ushiku a few years back at Freed Up Poets, every time I have seen him – he has always been determined to try something new and no two sets are the same. I’ve worked with him at guitar and verse with Jeffarama and also at several OpenMind events and am currently co-working on a book launch in Ashton with him and have always found his energy level and skill with words always worth your time.”

Vocal Strain, performance artist/poet: “About the man in question, the first thing to note is that there are five faces of Ushiku Crisafulli, not just one, two or three, however impossible that is, Ushiku has five crazy characters all stored under one roof. Ushiku has managed to develop and express through each one, his own particular opinions in an appropriate manner with each of the five individuals’ characteristics that he creates and embodies as with each persona. Take out of the denim pocket for example, Cowboy Crisafulli, a cowboy from the south of Italy, that embodies vastly different ideas of western culture in just a single pair of leather boots, because very close to belief, this ain’t no ordinary cowboy and it isn’t going to be one easy ride to know what’s grinding this cowboy down, so as you keep digging, there is a strong force that drives all five in just the one physical body to grow and expand, through the work undertaken by Ushiku formed through his appreciation and obsessively keen devotion to his interests, one of which is the seed to El Poetico, paying homage to one of Ushiku’s highly developed interests, professional wrestling.”

Graham Halsey aka GrIm, poet: “Ushiku is a writer who brings more than one style to the table. Just when you think you have his abilities and styles sussed out, he’ll come back at you and show you just how wrong you were.
In the short time I have known him, I have seen him write with:
Political Venom
Soppy gooiness
Sparkling wit
and dazzling humour amongst many other traits.

And this was before I managed to perform with him.

I showed Ushi a couple of pieces of my own work…. To which he quickly added his own spin on things. Initially, I didn’t know how the 2 styles would work together, but he has a way of making anything his own.

We have performed both together and co-written a piece, which I sincerely hope is not the last.

A true pleasure to work with, the biggest advocate of local performers, and he has one hell of a presence on stage.”
