Plugging the gap between Bonfire Night and Christmas comes A Poem & A Pint’s November gig at Lanternhouse, Ulverston on the 19th, with the award winning duo Ann and Peter Sansom. Ann Sansom has published six collections of poetry, including In Praise of Men and Other People, as well as writing and directing plays for stage and radio. Her poetry has been described as “news that stays news” (Poetry Review).

Peter Sansom has had four collections published by Carcanet, and his influential book, Writing Poems, is published by Bloodaxe. His Selected Poems has been called “brilliant”. Together Peter and Ann run The Poetry Business, which as well as publishing ‘The North’ magazine, and Smith/Doorstop books, runs much acclaimed writing workshops.

Music comes from the amazing flamenco virtuoso Fitz whose guitar playing is heavily influenced by the brilliance of players like Paco de Lucia, Tomatito, and Vicente Amigo.

All this, plus the regular floor slots for local poets to have a go (sign up on the door), and MC Mark Carson, adds up to a sure fire way to start your winter with a warm glow.
Supported by National Lottery through Arts Council England
