Performance by Valérie Rouzeau and Susan Wicks
2.30 - 4.00pm, November 27

Poets and Players and Arc Publications present French poet Valérie Rouzeau and her translator, New Generation Poet, Susan Wicks, as they read from Cold Spring In Winter, shortlisted for the Griffin Poetry Prize 2010 (the world's biggest). Talented Lancaster musicians Jane Lawrence (violin) and Ben Farmer (accordion) will also perform.

“Like Plath [...] Rouzeau combines the poet's adult voice with a child's language and a child's compulsive verbal patterning. But Rouzeau's achievement is to have sustained such intensity over such length [...], it is a book of rare cumulative power. With Cold Spring in Winter, Susan Wicks has produced a superlative translation, and just how inventive she has had to be to stay true to Rouzeau's unique idioms can be seen on every page”
