Bath Poetry Cafe - New Year / New Work

This event on 17th February 2010 has past.

Open Mic Event

Contact: Sue Boyle at jimboyle@gotadsl.co.uk

in the Duncan Room

Invited Cafe poets will talk about their current projects and read some of their recent work. An introduction to the great variety of talents and aspirations which make up the Bath Poetry Cafe and an opportunity to question some of our most successful poets about what drives them forward in their work.

Featuring:
LINDA SAUNDERS reading from her third book THE WATCHERS. TESSA STRICKLAND of Barefoot Books. Creating a family history in poetry. STEPHEN PAYNE Professor of Human-Centric Systems in the Computer Department at the University of Bath. Mentorship from the editors of Smiths Knoll. JUDITH YOUNG Working on The Waste Land Revisited. Collaborating with other poets from the Cafe. JONATHAN HOPE Associate Dean (Academic Affairs). Advanced Studies in England. Black humour and strict form.

There is still time to send in your poems if you would like to read at the NEW YEAR/NEW WORK Poetry Cafe. Individual poems of up to 25 lines and there is enough time to ensure that everyone who submits will definitely get to read at least one of the pieces they send in. (The list will be closed if they get so many submissions that reading time can be no longer guaranteed.)

The five featured poets will each be choosing their favourites from among the submissions, and introducing their choices as part of their 'sets' at the Cafe.

Please submit on or before Sunday 14th Feb to give time to circulate the collection. Submissions should be sent to: Sue Boyle at jimboyle@gotadsl.co.uk
