Roy Batt, Chrissie Gittins & Lance Lee.

Roy Batt is a veterinary surgeon, retired from research and lecturing in anatomy at the Royal Veterinary College, Camden Town, London. He was born and lives in North London, latterly on the edge of Hampstead Heath. He has published with Hub Editions four volumes of haiku, as well as a book of poems, Depictions, in collaboration with the artist, John Parsons. Giving Voice brings together his poems from 1977 to 2007. He won the Bedford Open Poetry Competition in 2004 and in 2002 won an award from the Peace Foundation in Kyoto for his haiku.

Chrissie Gittins' poems have won prizes, been anthologised, broadcast on BBC Radio 4, and animated for Ceebies Television. Her poetry collections are Armature (Arc, 2003) and I?ll Dress One Night as You (Salt, 2009). She writes plays for BBC Radio 4, and her short¬story collection is Family Connections (Salt, 2007). Both her children's poetry collections were short¬listed for the CLPE Award. I Don't Want an Avocado for an Uncle (Rabbit Hole, 2006) was a PBS Choice for the Children's Poetry Bookshelf.

Lance Lee's poetry has been published widely in American and English journals. Seasons of Defiance is his fourth collection of poems, following Wrestling with the Angel, Becoming Human, and Human/Nature. He has held a Creative Writing Fellowship from the US National Endowment for the Arts. A prolific writer in several genres, a selection of his plays is found in Time's Up and Other Plays. Other books include A Poetics for Screenwriters, The Death and Life of Drama, as well as a novel, Second Chances. He lives in Los Angeles but spends several months annually with his family in London.
