We’re back! Presenting, as a one-off, a brilliant new touring show from national slam poetry champion, musician and comic, Pete the Temp.

Homer to Hip Hop: A People’s History of Spoken Word is a fun and fascinating journey through the poetic movements that have shaped history. Learn why wordsmiths have always been vilified, feared and revered, from ballad singers and beat poets, to icons of dub, punk and hip hop.

‘A charming wild rumpus of a ride - part lecture, part performance and utterly engaging.’
(Tongue Fu)

Pete has featured on BBC Radio 4, BBC World Service, and Newsnight and wrote the ground-breaking new book Stage Invasion: Poetry & the Spoken Word Renaissance.

‘This is the book we have all been waiting for’
(Ian McMillan)

The evening will feature support from local rising star and BBC Words First winner P.A. Bitez, plus a Q&A panel chaired by Ben Mellor, with special guests Shirley May (Young Identity) and Rob Steventon (Punk in Drublic Poetry)

Price: £15.00 / £13.00. (Or book a table for 4 for £60)

Time: 7:30pm (Doors at 7.15pm)
