Puzzle Hall Community Pub is the same old Puzzle Hall Inn with a new lease of life as a Community Benefit Society. It is well known as a Music venue.
On the fourth Tuesday of the month the music stops and we pay attention to the spoken word. There has been poetry at the Puzzle Hall since the Nineties, with breaks when the pub was closed. Puzzle Poets moved to other pubs in Sowerby Bridge but now the pub is open again and very welcoming to all kinds of spoken word.
This is a friendly welcoming place for everyone to share any writings, with a mic passed around the circle, and a keen and appreciative audience

We had a cosy little session in January with eight of us,so lots of opportunity to share, listen and discuss what poetry is all about. Freda and Peter are current hosts.
Just now we are only open mic, in the sense that we read around the group, and chat in a positive way about what we hear. People may say "Oh I wrote one on that theme" and dig out their own, so its not like a performance at all.
If the numbers increase we may get back to inviting guests and having a stand up to the mic layout.
You may have noticed that the Puzzle has been closing some Tuesdays in the winter but this does not apply to the fourth Tuesday. The Puzzle extends a warm welcome to poetry lovers. Puzzle Poets began in 1994 so this year is our 30th anniversary.
It is a good tradition to uphold, but it is also ever evolving and every month brings new writers and readers our way.
Everybody is welcome, young and old. We love the variety and if you are shy to read your own work, feel free to bring your favourite published poet along.
