Our contemporary poetry reading series ‘Go to the poets, they will speak to thee’ returns in 2022, curated and hosted by poet Kim Moore. We will be listening to what poets have to say about our turbulent times, and how poetry can cross borders to challenge, delight and inspire us. Each event in the series is part reading, part open mic – and the theme of the open mic changes every month!

William Wordsworth transformed the way we perceive and think about the natural world, but his poetry also traced the connections and indivisible link between our inner and outer landscapes. Our guest poet this month is John McCullough, whose fourth collection Panic Response (Penned in the Margins, 2022) takes as its starting point the inner landscape of the mind in the twenty first century. This is a remarkable collection that examines personal and cultural anxiety by putting the building blocks of language under the microscope.

Our open mic theme this month is ‘Inner/Outer Landscape’. We would like to invite you to bring a poem that explores an inner or outer landscape, or maybe one that explores the connection between the two!
