Wirral Poetry Festival brings another of its popular poetry picnics which combine a visit to a notable Wirral landmark and a time to write and share poetry.
Join local poet Kemal Houghton for a day at Port Sunlight Riverpark, meeting at the Heritage Centre. This one-time abandoned dockland has been transformed into an award-winning wildlife sanctuary with views over the Mersey estuary including the nearby SSSI foreshore at New Ferry.
The day includes a History Walk led by the Park Ranger. Find out about the area’s industrial history as well as having a chance to spot some of the wildlife who have reclaimed this environment. See where the three training ships were once anchored and learn about their link with John Masefield. There is so much to do and you might even write a poem or two.

Meet at the venue. Bring your own picnic. Hot Drinks will be available. Tickets include the guided tour and hot drinks, Two free places are available for local residents (postcode CH62). Please email poetryfest@wirralpoetryfestival.org.uk to arrange.

Time: 10:00am (finishes at 15.30)
