Scribblers ahoy!
I hope 2020 is treating you well.
We next meet on Sunday, 2nd February, which was the birthday of James Joyce, also the date on which his novel, Ulysses, was published in Paris in 1922, Joyce's 40th birthday.
Sunday, 2nd February is also Candlemas, which marks the end of Christmastide. Snowdrops, one of my favourite flowers, are also known as Candlemas Bells. They symbolize hope in Christian belief.
I've booked the drawing room (back room) on the first floor of The Eagle and Child, High Petergate, York, for next month's writers and songwriters workshop on Sunday, 2nd February, from 5.30 to 8.30 in the evening.
I've not yet been told to be prepared to move to the top floor as the pub is popular, but please be prepared for that.
No guest writer or publisher has been invited to give a presentation. The workshop will be dedicated entirely to your work, so please bring along anything literary (or a song/lyric) of your making that you want to share or want a second opinion on or help with.
Please try to bring 3 or 4 paper copies of your work, not to exceed 2,000 words or 4 sides of A4, and £2 if you're waged, otherwise £1.
A writing exercise may be introduced to enliven the proceedings, but please be assured that your work takes pride of place!
