It's Write Out Loud Poetry Jam's 10th anniversary at the amazing Marsden Jazz festival this year, and promises to be yet another reet good do.

“…a joy from start to finish… all extremely good, some outstanding and yet more simply astonishing” wrote reviewer Judy Gordon.

To celebrate this anniversary, we have also invited special guests Louise Fazackerley and John Foggin to do a short reading. Special because both are integral to present-day Write Out Loud; both award-winning poets; both committed to sharing their experience and expertise for the benefit of others. Louise through her work inspiring young people in local schools to write poetry, as part of our Marsden the Poetry Village initiative; John through the generosity and erudition of his blog on the Write Out Loud home page.

We are privileged, too, to have Jenny Hanson reading a poem or two of her grandfather’s. Robert Garioch was a celebrated Scottish poet and translator who toured the Scottish poetry clubs of the 1960s.

Don’t be surprised to see youngsters there from our schools’ initiatives too. To join poets, amateur and professional who have made this event such an incredible success over the years - or just to listen - get there before 10.45 please. The last two years have been standing room only.

This year we are in the posh marquee of Hanson's Community Arts (the music shop), great friends of Marsden the Poetry Village. Where we promote the creation and sharing of poetry, they do the same for community music.
