Poetry Prescribed promote poetry as a self healing tool; and an effective way to manage mental health and wellbeing. Hosted by Miss Yankey this workshop promises to be a thought provoking session of reading, speaking, creating and sharing poetry on the complicated subject of 'Love in the 21st Century'.
February is the month that makes us wide eyed, or side eye; when the shops fill with flowers and love hearts; and people turn romantic or cynic! Love at first sight. Long-distance love. Situationships. Online dating. Catfishing. Marriage in the time of Facebook..... Today, love can be complex in new ways. What exactly is love in this digital age? How do we define it? And how do we put it into words?
You do not need to be a poet to join us! At Poetry Prescribed we welcome all writing levels- rest assured no previous writing experience is required to participate! We only ask that you come with an open mind, and be willing to explore your own creative potential in a nurturing and judgement free environment.
Poetry has the ability to inspire thought, change and creativity; it can also promote healing and personal growth. Through poetry we can creatively connect to self, others, our communities, and our spirituality.

Poetry Prescribed is facilitated by Holistic Practitioner and Poet Esi Yankey. Esi practices both Massage Therapy and Reiki, alongside working as a performance poet, co-host, and resident at The Chocolate Poetry Club. Combining her love of poetry with her passion for Holistic Therapy, Esi delivers healing workshops for all to enjoy.
