'A Fantastically Entertaining Evening' - The Yorkshire Post

Byron Vincent -

One of BBC poetry season’s New Talent Choices, Byron Vincent is a regular at the nation’s most prestigious literary and music festivals. He has performed several times on television and national radio, including Channel 4’s Random Acts, Radio 4’s Bespoken Word and BBC 3’s The Verb. He has written and presented several documentaries including ‘Hell Is Other People’ a self help guide to social anxiety, ‘How To Turn Your Life Around’ and ‘The Glasgow Boys: From Chaos To Calm’ for BBC Radio Four.He has recently written for The Guardian and Radio 4′s Four Thought. Byron is a proud ambassador for mental health charity Rethink, an organisation that tackles stigma around issues of mental health.

Always funny, often unsettling, Byron Vincent's deft poetry captures the underbelly of Britain's dead end towns with unerring accuracy."- Patrick Neate

Genevieve Walsh

Geneviève L. Walsh is a Yorkshire-raised Londoner and writer of poetry that 'shines an unforgiving light on contemporary life and manners, doing so with words which are full of sometimes shocking honesty' (WF Live). She founded Spoken Weird in 2013, which she still hosts and coordinates now. She became the first female core member of A Firm of Poets later that year, with whom she performed, hosted and ran workshops for four years. This year has seen her joining the Afflecks Creatives team, joining Manchester's Stirred Poetry and releasing her début solo collection, The Dance of a Thousand Losers [Flapjack Press, 2017]. The collection has been described Henry Normal as ‘keen and urgent with an untamed beauty - like a puma caught under a streetlight’.

Dean Wilson -

Dean Wilson suffers from Poetry Tourettes, a condition that affects one in every ten people in Kingston Upon Hull. But being Hull’s Fourth Best Poet is not without complications. Sometimes Dean gets overcome with the emotion of it all, and has to escape to the seaside. Sometimes Dean gets sad, but he doesn’t mind too much, because at least he’ll get a poem out of it. Most of the time, though, Dean is a happy soul. And sometimes he’s so happy he’s not safe on the streets.

“Every bit as brilliant as Larkin, but a million times funnier” (Dave Lee, The Guardian)

With short sets from;

Gevi Carver

In 2016 she was a semi-finalist in the Hammer & Tongue UK National Poetry Slam.
