30th September 2017

Lit Fest Double Bill:
Never Worn by Rob Reed and Ric Neale
and Dead Sea Poems by One Day, After School

How can we say what matters? How can we speak our minds? How can we make words count? Based on Ernest Hemingway's shortest story - a novel in just six words Never Worn questions this. The very beginning of flash fiction told in song and spoken word by Rob Reed and Ric Neale.

From trying to find the right words at the right time in an argument, to over thought tweets about politics, to text messages announcing our undying love; the idea of saying a lot, with a little is as old as the written word itself. “Never Worn” explores this idea using songs, stories and poetry.

Wakefield musicians One Day, After School present their brand new work; a soundtrack performance of Simon Armitage's seminal poetry collection 'The Dead Sea Poems'. Combining specially composed music with guest performers and poets, the show takes lead from the collection's pre-millenial tension and Armitage's own down to earth interest in the minutiae of life.

'The Dead Sea Poems' was shortlisted for the Whitbread Poetry Prize, the Forward Prize and the T.S. Eliot Prize. In 1999 Simon Armitage was named the Millennial Poet. One Day, After School released their debut album in 2017 and are influenced by instrumental artists such as Mogwai, Slint and Brian Eno.
