This month Kyle McHale is the featured poet at the Keystone Poetry Open Mic, hosted by Dónall Dempsey.

Kyle moved to Guildford from Maryland over two years ago. He has been reading and writing poetry since his teens as a passionate hobby. A particular inspiration to encourage his poetry was a university professor who served as the poet laureate for the state of Maryland.

Kyle's poems vary in form and content but are intended to be thought-provoking, lyrical, and spoken aloud. He often uses the advice from his professor as a guide that good poems should link the current moment to some kind of memory, while also flowing like a river, meaning they can meander in thoughts but should flow to a destination. Kyle's poems are meant to leave you with something to ponder later.

As always, come to sign up from 7pm onwards and we start proceedings at 7.30. Readers have up to five minutes each and can (optionally) read a favourite poem by someone else as well as their own work.

Entry: free (or voluntary donations)

Time: 7:30pm
