Open Mic Event

Contact: matt@artfulscribe.co.uk

A brand new showcase event for Live Literature in Poole and Bournemouth in conjunction with Lit Up! and Apples and Snakes. Hosted by Myriam Wordmaker. Featuring open mic, local guests, and headlined by national and international acts.

September 17th at poole Museum
Doors open at 7pm
Open Mic starts at 7-30 sharp

Headlined by Toby Thompson.

Watching Toby Thompson is like watching the first atomic bomb, a firework set off in your bedroom and two people having sex, at the same time, on repeat. He’s explosive, intense and deeply honest. His words leave you breathless, his passion for saying them speechless and his age, will probably leave you jealous at how a man of his few years (20), can know so much and say it so well.

"Toby Thompson is one of the most inspired, powerful MC / poets I've heard in years. He speaks with a talent and passion that puts a lot of older writers to shame. F**k knows what primal wellspring he's pulling all this inspiration from, but anyway. World: take notice." Dizraeli (Champion Poet, Rapper and Hip Hop Tour De Force)

Local support from Peter Fereday, the audience choice from last month and Anne Lydon.
Anne is an award winning poet and feature writer. Anne's material covers a wide range of topics. Her take on human life is told in different styles, ranging from humour through to deeply moving and sometimes dark.

Open mic participants stand a chance of being offered a support slot in a future show.

Lit Up! is a cross-conurbation project from the Borough of Poole, supported by Arts Council England and Bournemouth Libraries.

Admission £5/£3 (conc).

Price: £5.00

Time: 7:00pm
