Elaine Feinstein has been an academic, a novelist, a playwright, a biographer and a translator, but it is for her poems that she is best-known. Her new long-awaited collection of poems looks back at her life and the many fascinating people she has encountered. Elaine Feinstein will be talking about both her poetry and her life with fellow-poet and publisher Michael Schmidt, author of The Novel: A Biography.

Elaine Feinstein is a prize-winning poet, novelist, playwright, biographer and translator. She has written 15 novels and many plays for the radio and television. Her first novel was The Circle and her memoir is entitled It Goes with the Territory.

Michael Schmidt is writer-in-residence at St John's College, Cambridge. He is a founder, editorial and managing director of Carcanet Press and general editor of PN Review. He is also an award-winning poet, novelist and literary historian.
