Our September Pop Up night brings a new guest to the Bar des Arts, Harry Man, and two old friends of the Bar: Pauline Sewards and Tom Vliestra.
Harry is an award-winning poet from South London. His first pamphlet of poetry, Lift, is published by Tall Lighthouse and he is also the winner of the 2014 Bridges of Struga Award and was shortlisted for Best Pamphlet 2014 Saboteur Awards) His poems offer a fascinating blend of history, personal loss and an alienating landscape, space fiction and surrealism.
Pauline has featured more than once since 2012 and we’re always delighted to see her with more of her poem-stories of life as a music lover, a peace-lover, and a feisty child of the seventies.
Tom began performing at the Bar des Arts while he was a Psychology student at the University of Surrey. Now he’s a fully-fledged psychotherapist who sometimes uses poetry to help his clients, and is still writing. He’s just moved back into the area and we’re really looking forward to seeing the new, working therapist poet Tom Vliestra on the Bar des Arts platform.
And of course we’ll be inviting open mic readers from the floor – this means YOU! We’ll be signing people up who want to read, from 7pm. But if you just want to come along at 7.30 to listen, have a cocktail or a cup of coffee or a beer or a glass of wine, we’d love to see you there!
