Poems read by David Constantine and new voices
Marie Naughton and Joey Connolly;
music on the harp by Rebecca Sharp.
This is a free event and there is no need to book.
David Constantine, described by Stephen Knight as “One of the best exponents of free verse this country has produced”, is the author of ten volumes of poetry, a novel and several volumes of short stories. His latest book of poems is Elder (Bloodaxe, 2014), “a profoundly humane vision of the world”, “both tender and desperate”.
Marie Naughton’s poems have won prizes in a number of competitions and have been published in magazines including Mslexia and The Dark Horse.
Joey Connolly edits the poetry journal Kaffeeklatsch. His poetry has appeared in various magazines, and in 2012 he received an Eric Gregory award (given by the Society of Authors for collections by poets under the age of 30).
Rebecca Sharp will be performing her own original compositions for the clarsach (lever harp) – “beautiful lyrical work”, “a delightful shower of chimes, harmonics and soaring chord progressions.”
