Hello! Hope that you've all had a wonderful Christmas! Our first Spoken Word London of 2014 is going to be on Wednesday 8th January, and we'd love to hear what you've got to say in the New Year. We are also implementing an earlier start time in 2014 of 7pm, with sign up and drinking time from 7-8pm, and the readings beginning at 8pm.
Spoken Word London is an open-mic night for all types of spoken performance, from poetry to prose to soliloquies to rap to short theatrical excerpts - if you can speak it, come and have others hear it. We aim to provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere in which you can share your words with an appreciative audience. We are inspired by, and are a sister night to, Spoken Word in Paris.
Our only rule is everyone gets an equal time - five minutes and no longer - in which to speak!
NB We try and operate a free entry policy because we know that poets are invariably penniless people, but we also know that poets are die-hard drinkers so, if you can, please prove this at the bar so that the venue can cover their costs! Alcoholics, Irish nationals and those people who get slightly tipsy and then buy rounds for the entire room are encouraged.
