Tongue Fu returns ‘home’ to Rich Mix after a summer sabbatical at London Wonderground and 5 star reviews at Edinburgh Festival, for a Halloween special
Eschewing zombies, fake blood and pumpkins, Chris Redmond invites a poet, a comedian and an end-of-life companion to explore how we remember and celebrate our dead.
A show; a conversation; an enquiry into death and our relationship to it; with live improvised music from The Tongue Fu Band (Nostalgia 77, The Puppini Sisters) and animations from CR&D.
"It's poetry, but not as you know it…amazing” The Guardian
featuring
Arthur Smith:
Comedian, poet, writer, radio presenter (BBC R4’s Arthur Smith’s Balham Bash) and star of BBC2’s Grumpy Old Men, whose 2013 Edinburgh show saw him mixing gags and Leonard Cohen songs to explore themes of love, time and mortality.
Rebecca Green:
Sharp-witted writer, performer, NHS nurse, ‘Death Doula / End of Life Companion’ and funeral celebrant, shares her thoughts and insights into the dying and dead.
Tim Clare:
This October stand-up poet, author and BBC regular Tim embarked on a ‘Poets’ Graves’ UK tour with ‘Don’t Flop’ battle boys Mark Grist and Mixy, visiting the graves of the greats; performing in pubs, graveyards and front-rooms. Tim reports back, with a ukulele.
