Poetry, Short-Story, Flash Fiction OPEN MIC
Local writers Clive Birnie and Jo Carrington are launching a poetry and story telling open mic at the Coco Cafe Bar in Portishead. The monthly event will feature a published author or poet with the rest of the evening given over to open mic slots for aspiring writers to read their poetry or short story to a receptive audience. Anyone can sign up for the open mic or simply come along and listen.
Clive says: "There are loads of good open mic nights in Bristol and other towns in the South West so we thought something similar was needed in Portishead". Jo, whose stories have been read on Radio4, adds "The Coco Cafe Bar is the perfect venue for this, right on the marina near Parish Wharf. It will be a relaxed event where anyone can get up and read their writing or just tell a story or recite a favourite poem."
Background Notes:
Businessman, blogger, and poet, Clive Birnie lives in Portishead with his wife, a daughter and a French dog. Clive has had poetry and short stories published by numerous literary journals. Writer, storyteller and teacher Jo Carrington lives in Pill with her husband and three children. Jo has written for community theatre in France, and been published in literary journals including Tickled by Thunder and the Orchard Downs Press while living in the USA.
