Good news! Next Pop Up Poetry event on Tuesday 3rd July is a bumper offering - four features, open mic, and our new Lucky Dip feature – and it’s all free!
Murray Shelmerdine, our first guest feature, runs the Queens Wood Café monthly Words and Music in the Woods event. In his own right he’s an accomplished and witty singer- songwriter with a melodious guitar and a cheeky grin.
Ed Parshotam is the coolest of cool young rappers – his rhythms are legendary and he turns a mean rhyme. His custom-made improvisations on words provided by the audience are awesome and we hope to tempt him to create one, on Tuesday 3rd.
Eddie Chauncy, has enjoyed writing poems and songs privately for over thirty years, but it’s only this year that he has begun to share what he writes with a wider audience. He has a repertoire of well-observed, lyrical poems to share.
We also welcome for the first time to the Pop Up stage , Muerto De Amor, the talented Spanish band based in Guildford, featuring the singing of lovely sisters Liliana and Silviana Montoya.
And of course we have our generous audience and our wonderful Open Mic performers, bringing poems of their own and reading famous works from Dónall’s Lucky Dip hat.
Come and sign up at 7.15, or email Jan for an Open Mic slot at popupoetry@gmail.com (please note the clever omission of one of the “P”s in the address – it’s deliberate!)
We start at 7.30 and go on till 10 or later. Bring your poems and your appreciative ears – to quote the immortal words of our flyer :
“Feel like life’s going down the drain?
Pop up with poetry and get it back again!”
Entry: Free
Time: 7:30pm
Note: Write Out Loud does its best to ensure the accuracy of event listings but can accept no liability or responsibility if it's just plain wrong.
