Golden Wedding

How did gold become so precious?

Because warm it lies against the skin,

And light as hands upon the waist,

Cradles the fingers in embrace.

How did gold become so precious?

Enduring fifty years or more,

When soft as icing it can bend

Through change, yet never a circle end.

How did gold become so precious?

Glowing in the hopeful dawn

Of wedding vows, the promise made

And hopeful constant sun repaid.

So, Golden Wedding, golden sun,

Paths lightly dusted in gold are run,

Lovers together,  friends so precious,

Infinite love - without measure.
