Greggs

A tax on pasties! What a dreary toll,

A scourge on pastry lovers everywhere;

Aficionados of the sausage roll

And steak and kidney pie, beware;

Why pick on pastry - pasties, rolls and pies?

Is it, perhaps, that they are northern food?

In Britain, cant and snobbery belie

The policies the great make for our good;

Why not a tax on champagne, brie and Mercs

Or Chablis, petit pois or fine Bourdeux?

Or better yet, a tax on MP's perks -

A richer source of income, don't you know;

So leave our tasty pasties well-alone

As Greggs best do them, warm and nicely done.
