Sorry about the delay in replying. I think this poem was about our casual disregard for nature. The 'career' could be as a mountaineer or it may signify that our opportunity to abuse the natural world is not limitless. As so often in poetry, it is not the most exact term but it does flow and rhyme quite well, I think.

Hi Afshan: I'm not keen of free-verse - I prefer trad metre and rhyme - but like your use of word art/shaping.

Great lines Afshan. Really liked this poem, it connected.
