Hi Rachel, The synopsis of the synopsis is: lost love from a third person's perspective who later writes a novel detailing the affair of her sister and a young man. War intervened. But the author changes the end to make it a happy reunion. The novel is written some 50 years or more after the meeting of the lovers. Brilliant book (2001) by Ian McEwan and later a beautiful film (2007) .

I love the song too and I wish I could say that I was responsible for it in some was but alas, I cannot. Other than the title means the same as the title of my poem and I feel a deep connection to the song and her voice. The idea of univocalism was introduced to me by one of my friends (also a poet).
Basically it's just writing a piece which only includes one vowel all the way through. I highly recommend giving it a go - it's lots of fun!

I would be very interested to hear anyone's attempts at univocalism in 'U' (very difficult!)

Hi Jenni - like your poetry, esp the moth who wasn't a moth, and the one about poor Meg. What is univocalism? Is it what it sounds like, i.e. reciting the poem all on one note? I am intrigued! Thanks for your kind remarks about my requiem, and 'Close' - much appreciated. I have to say my favourite is the lachrymosa from Mozart's requiem - always moves me (yes - to tears!). Though I like the Fauré too.
