For every child who cowers in the dark, For every teenager who hides within repeats, For every adult who thought they’d grow out of it, For the times when the mind is an entity feared, For all the screams, cuts and burns, For meals not eaten and pounds lost, For guilt and punishment and the voice that won’t stop, For the face at the back of the lecture theatre, For the lone figure walking down empty roads, For identities mangled, Through enormous pain Through enormous strength I will never give up I can’t change my world But I will do my damndest So that a six year old, eight year old, doesn’t matter how old Won’t need to feel alone Won’t sequester their thoughts in silence My contribution may be little And there will still be suffering But if I can help one child, one teenager, one adult One fucked up individual with fucked up thoughts Then I will be pleased that at least I could save one of you.
