Biography

I am a poet drawn to stories shaped by memory, the weight of human experience and the sea. My work explores themes such as the ambiguities of courage and corruption, departure and fatigue—often framed through intimate moments of reflection or maritime imagery. My poems range from traditional sonnets to free verse and prose poem narratives. My style is influenced by Romantic poets like Keats and modern voices that value clarity, emotional resonance, and finely honed imagery. I try to capture the grand sweep of nature and the private terrain of the inner life, whether writing about a horse chestnut tree in childhood, sexual slavery or a storm-tossed cargo ship. I believe in revision as discovery. I often return to my drafts, refining language, rhythm, and emotional tone until each line carries the weight of its intention. Poetry is both a craft and a compass that helps me make meaning of what I've seen and lived.
