Biography
Portia Leigh is a journalist and poet from Los Angeles, California. A certified 200 HR yoga instructor and perpetual student, she is passionate about sharing the practice with others through teaching and writing about yoga and yogic philosophy. She sails, snowboards, rides motorcycles and recently took up kiteboarding. She finds traveling and the people she meets along the way to be among the most fulfilling and enlightening things in life, and she is constantly looking for new adventures to write about. With degrees in both journalism and philosophy, she is driven to tell the truth in a way that weighs opposing viewpoints, cuts to the root of the issue and mindfully offers solutions to how we can find common ground to stand on as human beings. She currently writes for No. 3 Magazine in New York, and Gypsyrich.com, her writing also appears on Tinseltownnewsnow.net, Internationalfilmreview.net, Stillstoked.com and the Book Yoga Retreats blog.

Quiet. Silence is Speaking. Silence. The air is talking. The waves crashing. The planes rocket forth in the distance. How rare to just sit. To shut off the machine and simply exist. The silence looks black or white depending on the day. One moment the sun seems unable to rise, And all the nothingness appears empty. Yet soon enough the quiet shines a light. Emptiness becomes openness, a fertile space of possibility. Patience. This is polarity. There’s no need to cling. Find comfort in opposites. Commit peacefully to the swing. Quiet. Silence is speaking.
