Biography

World music wordplay, free verse fanfares, binge thinking, bad news blues: Paul Taylor’s globe-trotting musical journeys are distilled into a trunkful of engaging poetry, bounced along in a solo set of classic standards, original pieces, and spontaneous compositions. The trombone poetry album - SPEECH - is available via the website and at performances.

WHEELS WITHIN WHEELS in a huge Geordie pub full of huge Geordies I sit reading Lorca while a woman's hilarity seems to loop "The Laughing Policeman" the stout steadily sinks as I wait my turn to recycle ska under the gaze of a punter whose beard is a poorly-cleaned paint brush many rounds later midnight will send us back south the clock springing forward to circle our hangovers. © Paul Taylor 2014

Books

Books published by Redraft Press: Better Late Than Sorry - life, art, music, science, travel, the odd drink. Beetles - a collection of sometimes enigmatic biographies of a spectacular range of beetles, based on descriptions found in various books, old and recent, some of which may have been wilfully misconstrued. Robots - a short collection of poems inspired by recent news stories from the world of robotics. Beiku by Ben Mandelson and Paul Taylor is a book of freshly-baked poems in a new format: bite-sized circles of wisdom inspired by beigels (or bagels). The poems are offered in batches, where you can pay tribute to a cultural hero, wander around in a daze, grab a bite to eat and dance the night away on a big East End night out. Beiku : a new way of playing with your food.

All poems are copyright of the originating author. Permission must be obtained before using or performing others' poems.
