Biography

With her Berlin postcode, Ghanaian mother, British Father and dual nationality (British/American), It’s probably easiest to say Paula is from a lot of places, but particularly London, Washington Dc and Berlin. She is as likely to perform at a gallery or cabaret night, as at a poetry slam. In 2009 she premiered her first solo show - Kiss and Tell at Hau Zwei as part of the Berlin 100 grad theatre festival. In 2010 she represented the U.K. as of the artists in residence with the European poetry slam days project, touring across Europe with a multilingual spoken word show. Sometimes performing with live and recorded music, she has collaborated with music producers, Backdraft, Cloudfist Conceptz (aka Jonas McCloud), Filtig and Dj That F*cking Sara, to find beats that go with her words. Her ep with producer Cloudfist Conceptz, was released in the winter of 2010. You can download it for free at http://letsmaketracks.bandcamp.com What can you expect from her performances? Well sit back comfortably and get ready to get… Varjacked.

Pick-up time at the piano bar... it wasn’t that late well... late for some maybe the dawn of the witching hour as across the room in a dark cellar bar women started to pile in sitting awkwardly on a leatherette bench tossing their heads with not so freshly done highlights legs crossing and uncrossing they were all softly chatting but then seemed distracted watching the door perhaps waiting for men to arrive to make sense of their hopeful looks drifting over white wine spritzers the door opened several sets of heads turned expectantly as the piano player entered attractive but maybe not the gender these women were waiting for and as she played she was mostly ignored and no boys arrived and the girls looked bored as her solicitations for song requests were met with frightened looks pauses giving way to husky renditions of elton john ella fitzgerald and cole porter
