see website: www.nikkibennettpoems.com to hear and see sample poems, recordings and youtube Autumn Canal Walk Every bend showed the same view along the canal, but still I walked and walked to find my picnic spot - the biggest oak, on a steep incline between canal and river. I rested my back against its trunk, not fearing my weight would tumble it into the valley; its life breathed into mine. I turned to face the autumn sun, a salute to you, your burnished colours, your strength, unchanging familiarity; the path ahead the same yet unknown. Nov 2011
