Hope Her eyes scan the surroundings for the tiniest glimmer of euphoric light. Her knees are throbbing, sore from the needle like gravel on which she lay. Her shoulders strikingly heavy with the pressure of many souls upon them. Yet she slowly and surely turns to a distant spark of burning orange which appears from the corner of her eye. It surprises her like an image never viewed before, it draws her fragile fingers up from the stones. Then she begins to move forwards towards the most wonderful precious vision. The sense of uttermost pleasure fills her heart, the most startling bright light, a burning source of passion and power - she can do anything. Step by step the vision gets closer as she approaches a sparkle appears on the ground in front of her, she looks down - it is water not the sun and it suddenly begins to trickle away, she panics, falls back to the floor desperately gathering up the last few drops into the palms of her hands before it disappears. She brings her fingers to her cheeks delicately caressing her skin, but her hands are dry, once again she is in darkness but will continue to search for light because it was there once before.
