Biography

I rekindled my love of writing in earnest a little over a year ago, after quitting a particularly soul-crushing job with a rhyming rant called 'Dear Boss'. I shared this on social media and friends were very encouraging that I should try to write more. I braved my first open mic in November 2014 and thanks to a positive reception and a lovely community of Yorkshire poets, have grown in confidence to perform a few times since. In June 2015 I did my first invited guest spot at Spoken Weird in Halifax. I feel like I'm still finding my feet and my voice. I've joined Write Out Loud because I'm always on the look out for events and people to inspire me to become a better writer.

Samples

This is a short poem that I wrote on a lunchbreak while temping earlier this year. Snow We interrupt this broadcast to bring you static electricity, A reprieve of white noise, Muffled shrieks of a million atoms dancing, Emancipated girls and boys So sudden swept and glistening, Pirhouetting in confetti Fastest Fearless Softest Glowing Tumbling Standstill Landing Freezing. Normal programming will resume shortly.
