Hey, I love writing, and I wanted to share some of it with the world. I'm a software engineer, and writing is my way of coping. I am looking forward to this new community!

You Don't Get To Tell Us About Our Love

A generation with a reputation To let go of oneself in another Today's kids just want one thing, They could never get their bodies out of the gutter. We just want to feel something, And we want it fast. Terrified of commitment, but deep inside, We long and yearn for it to last It's an endless cycle of echoes Of the same lessons with different people You pass your valued judgement Your experiences should be enough to guide me to the top of the hill. You think you were better lovers Always truthful and caring Were you honest or did you care enough? Atleast we confess in the beginning that we're all lying. You call us disloyal for prioritising ourselves You call us selfish because at this stage We would rather dive in and out of situationships Than drown in a lifeless marriage. We forgive, and go back over and over You call us out as stupid fools Do you remember when you said to an eight year old, "After all he's family, we have to keep the peace too." We all fight our own long battles Live with different trauma from childhood And yet, despite so much pain We still love in multitudes. We love the smell of the garden we played in as little kids We love our friends, school buildings and our pets We love the little boy who cooks with his dad on Instagram People thousands of miles away that we've never met. In the end you think we failed you, That we wasted away your hopes and dreams But do you deserve to win after the things you did? By being the very reason we believe that love may not be a real thing?
