Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

Wirral Words 28 April

Thanks to all who came especially those who travelled far and struggled to find us. Not a huge attendance due to unfair competition from Rob Brydon, but I thought there was a good range of poetry.

The adventures of a filthy physicist took DG into our Hall of Fame for the second time. Surely a reason for all other poets to up their game if only for the sake of sanity and decency.

I will just pick out some points from the feedback.

'Buy a mike'

Would love to, but we are skint. My voice tends to hurt people's ears without a mike, but it is right that we have very good performers who cannot be clearly heard. There are also some people who do not like to be amplified and prefer the natural voice. It would be nice to have a mic as an option. We will try.

I paraphrase, but the essence of the comment is that the lighting is crap.

I agree and unfortunately there is not enough control of the lights in The Scouse House to improve it much. We could probably do a bit better if Only I remembered to play around with it, but My head is always full of poetry and I don't attend to the lights. Remind me.

'Have a raffle every month'

OK. We should be able to manage that.

Other comments were nicey stuff about enjoying the evening. Well thanks very much for that.

Thanks too to Jason Richardson for sharing the compereing with me and to John Jones for donating a raffle prize.

I would welcome a proper review, especially from DT.

Not meaning to offend Jason or any of the other 'Ode Show' people most places the size of Wirral Words don't need a mic...I have trouble seeing why the Ode show needs one tbh.

Oh well, maybe instead we just get the fans turned off before the start, they did drown out some people. C'est la vie.

Oh, maybe try a raffle every month, or not...it's just maybe that'd raise a few more funds...
