Hi Everyone

I'm an independent(ish), non-WOL-affiliated, non-poet, conducting an informal review of the discussion section of writeoutloud.net. I should say that I've been asked to do this by Julian, I'm not some random troll encouraging you to bitch about your own site!

So now that's clear as whatsit, I'd like to ask for your likes and dislikes about this section of the site. I'm only after comments which relate to the discussion forum please.

All of your ideas will be taken seriously, but I can't promise changes...

I think it's well-constructed - i like the icons and speech bubbles, but you can't edit or remove. Perhaps an auto remove the earliest messages when a topic gets to a certain number of replies might be in order.

I really rate WOL and this website - I gain a great deal from being involved and a site user. Always grateful.

The main parts of the site that I use are news, gig guide, galleries and my profile as a mini-website, also check others' regularly. (perhaps new ones could be highlighted for a while to avoid trawling through?)

I like the idea of the forum and welcome this exercise as I think it needs a bit of a lift. I'm not keen on the face icons but not dead against them - perhaps it's aiming for the friendly approach that is the WOL ethos? It's not the best used part of the site though is it - even though we're told the site has high "traffic". Perhaps starting a load of interesting threads would enlivened debate? Poets on Fire website is similarly quiet at the moment - I think lots of people are communicating in myspace!
