Publicising Poetry Events

Hello.
I took over the running of a poetry slam in Reading during 2108. The part I need advice on most is finding ways of publicising the event.
I have put the Dreading Slam on a few poetry/vent listing sites (Including recently adding it to the Write out loud gig guide. We have an active face book page and I (or other poets) leave leaflets at other local poetry events. Is there anything else you recommend?

I can't imagine the slam event is currently running at the moment, but if I had seen this post at the time, I would have said Richard had done a pretty good job of publicising the event, and covered most bases. Write Out Loud's Gig Guide has reopened for online events, and more organisers are taking advantage of the faciilty. That's good to see!

The local libraries in the catchment area might be willing to put a small poster up for a literary event, club or society.

The local newspapers usually have a 'What's On' section where various groups from walking groups to art, dance, museum and this sort of thing tend to post their upcoming events. I've never had any reason to find out the process but it might be worth an enquiry.
