One Man's Fear

One Man’s Fear

A lonely walk
Down echoed street.
Past teenage group
Stares at his feet.

Husband chased
By thoughts and strife
The worry of a cheating wife.
Woodpecker thoughts throughout his day
As time away is time to play.

To release the hand
To pace the floor
When only child
Plays beyond the door.

Monster fears
Newpapers’ friend.
Tabloid feeds the fear
Of men.

A soldier’s mum
At News at Ten.
Holding breath
Each night again.

Target missed
A deadline gone
Invaded dreams,
Insomnolent bomb.

Stockbroker’s heart
About to burst.
As Wall Street crashes
Dumps him headfirst.

Crumpled man
In lonely home
Confused and scared
To die alone.

One man’s fear,
Another’s fate.
Fear of fate
Instilled, innate.

This is such a powerful poem Darren. I really like the structure and the content is very thought-provoking. This poem seems like a new direction for you and I must say it suits you perfectly sir.

You have a good rhythm to this poem Darren, sounds like a heartbeat. Especially like" Woodpecker thoughts throughout his day." and the child behind the door. Good work.
