Hamlet

Hamlet

Sitting in the belly of the train
English plains fall behind
Clattering across track
Serpent speeds
England’s fallen away
Hew of land changes
Hypnotic jewels populate my vision
Hamlet upon hamlet
Come into and go out of view
Innocently boastful
In my heart beauty grew
Each bore a coat of forest green
Shining reflections of a Scottish scene
As an Englishman; life proffering bitter pill
Scotland dilutes my tiredness; bringing rest
The havens of piece; lower furrowed brow
My oasis found; it’s bejewelled by heather
Oh to stay in my hamlet with heather forever
