Etiquette on Write Out Loud......

Faced with a question of etiquette this evening, I thought I'd throw my dilemma out to the winds to see if anybody had some ideas on the subject.
It is this:
If somebody is kind enough to read a poem on my blog and then to make a comment, where should I express my thanks for their kindness?
Should I respond by writing another comment, under my own blog, hoping that they might see it?
Or should I go over to their Profile page and leave a comment there, which they will certainly see but which is quite divorced from the object of my thanks?
This is not quite a "First-World Problem" because I believe manners and courtesy are very important but I would be interested to know what anybody else would advise.

If you post a 'thanks' comment on your own blog then whoever's already made a comment will get an email notification telling them the blog they commented on earlier has got more comments...i.e. yours. You could always write under their own profile page which a few of us do. Whichever you prefer or maybe even both!

Regards,

David

Hello Richard,
The normal place is on the blog itself. A lot of members wait a few days before responding and then it is possible to thank several in one response.
If someone has made a particular suggestion or critique it can also be answered there too allowing all readers the opportunity to follow the thread. Just like here on the discussion section.
Use private messaging from a member's profile page for one to one communications.

I personally like 'notes' on the particular post. Mind you, sometimes there seems to be a huge response to a work which, when followed up, is at least 50% the author's responses to comments. But the writer's own feedback on feedback is also quite interesting.

OK, then, CBT, make a point that says something! I like all comments on the actual poem's post. Done.

Where is Freda's input here?
