Hi KP and the rest of you gorgeous lovely poets, I didn't come last night as I was in London and as much as I love you all until I finally nab Superman and get him to fly me to gigs - yes I am thinking of changing my name to Louis - it would make travelling much easier! But until then I have to live with these restrictions and it looks like I missed another really good night - I assume the first review is from Alabaster as it is bloody good as always and may I suggest that he do the reviews regularly because the boy - sorry, man, is incredibly good at it and if it wasn't Alabaster then Anon should do the reviews from now on.
I am very sad to see that Greg is leaving I have only had the pleasure of seeing him perform twice and both times he was a joy to listen to, it has been a pleasure meeting you Greg and hearing your wonderful poetry spoken in your very sexy spanish accent and in the language too sometimes. Best of luck with your journey home, I hope you will have a long and happy life in La Mancha.
Oh and I'm definitely up for a trip to Spain, saying that I'm a wuss and am scared of flying, so I'm hoping some kind person will offer to hold my hand on the way over to France - or maybe just knock me out. (now don't be mean)
Well done everyone - hopefully I may see you at next months event.

Much love and laughter to you all.

Magi

Oh and Greg I'm very sorry I didn't get to say goodbye to you in person, hopefully you will come for a holiday and we'll meet again. God bless.

Excellent review by Anon which gives a good idea of the range and quality of poetry to be heard on the night. It must also be said that there was also much laughter to be heard on the night and much passion in the performances. There are some extraordinary performers to be seen. This certainly beats sitting at home watching the thought-suppressing box, or standing chatting in the bar.

There are only 26 letters and a limited number of words in the English Language but they can be used in an infinite number of ways. Write Out Loud gives us all a chance to share some of that variety.

We stretch from pure cheesy (in the best sense) entertainment from Gordon, rolling Rs from Julian to the meaningful words of Linda, the "ranting" of Alabaster and Melanie's deep ruby red. And then we have debut performances from brave new poets who always live up to the occasion with inspiring work.

And who could think of ants the same as they did before after Peter's impassioned piece.

And only here would you have heard Greg reciting in free-flowing Spanish and giving us the English versions as well.

When I first started to write poety someone advised me that my poetry should never preach and should be designed to uplift or entertain. Of course I'm far too bolshy to agree with that and I think that Wrtie Out Loud proves that poetry can pretty much do whatever you want it to. And long may it continue to do so.

Ah, that wasn't Alabaster, it was me - his alter-ego. Thanks everyone, I'll take that credit! Perhaps I was somehow pre-ashamed of completely misspelling your name, Seamus, between spells in Ireland, how ridiculous...

Indeed, congratulations on a far more succinct summing up of a truly decent evening...

Hi Gus, well i think you did incredibly well considering what Alabaster got upto with your body over in Ireland and as for the succint review - yes Seamus, it's lovely what you said and I heartily agree with the last bit, but Gus you have a true gift for reviewing - when I read your reviews I feel like I'm experiencing the gig and I think lots of folks who access this site and can't get to any or all of the gigs will really appreciate that and it also acts as a great advertisement to get more people to come to the gigs, so well done honey.(don't be so hard on yourself)
