Pete Crompton

a love that scares (to the uninitiated)

tired the wolf is crying out
Scared the lamb bleated bouts
Of tears
tolerated
And continue to
years merely another layer
A permeable crust
Of a love that scares
The uninitiated
true love truly performs
Where weyside eyes squint
In stiffled yawns
As though they are scared
But transparent the defiant embrace
Truer the love, searching found, celebrate
The depth
The core sample strata symbolic
In texture colour ironic
That the weyside weary dress so bright
To hide the hollow feeling plight
Of emptiness
And green the grin
As the entwined pass by
Yet need not be
Should you
find the missing piece
Dare you to envy me!
For my grateful serendipity
My tidal gift of cyclical sea
The shore is shared in urgency
The random and the refugees
Of romance
And tread my prints in well washed sand
Lead the soul to the mated hand
But most important understand
Patience
