Performance poetry to inspire, delight and provoke, within the most burlesque bar in Plymouth!

Poets to make you laugh out loud, gasp with pleasure and ponder life’s great philosophies we: welcome you to the most thrilling poetry ride of your life! Nestled safely in the cobbled streets of the Barbican, surrounded by velvet curtains and candle light, you will find the FORKED poets ready and waiting to entertain.

Bringing you every possible style of performance poetry from across the UK, the line- up is always diverse and brilliant. On top of that Jazz Floozy and Poetess Mama Tokus will be there, whilst the B-Bar will serve up tasty fresh Thai food. Featuring:

Salena Godden: Spoken word hero Salena is a force to be reckoned with; her poems have delighted audiences all over the Country.
Her work has been published in various magazines including Rising, Nude Magazine and Salzburg Review. As well as being a golden tongued performance poet she is also lead singer of underground ska jazz band SaltPeter. You will also find her hosting the Book Club Boutique, Soho’s regular literary salon.

Sally Crabtree’s Poetry Bingo: Sally is a poet, a dancer, a singer and an installation Artist. Complete with a bright pink wig she will dazzle and entertain with her poetry Bingo, Join in and experience words in a whole new way, You will also be able to make some edible poetry during the interval with Sally’s ‘Eat your Words’!

Daniel Haynes: Newcomer Daniel Haynes was the winner of the Exeter Poetry Festival Slam 2012 and well deserved. With an almost awkward comedic delivery and poems about all kinds of random things, such as electric sporks, you will be left grinning from ear to ear.

Aisling Fahey: a London teenage Poetry Slam winner and member of the Barbican young Poets, Aisling has been performing and writing since a young age. Shake The Dust slam poetry mentor and all round lovely girl her poems are delivered with a heartfelt maturity and honest grace
